About the Landsharks Running Club

The Landsharks Running Club develops young athletes in positive, safe, character-based programs.  The focus is on having fun, competing against individual abilities, improving personal skills, being an encouraging teammate, making new friends, and promoting a healthy lifestyle.  In the fall and winter, our athletes focus on cross-country and in the spring and summer our athletes learn the Track and Field events.  We train parents, teachers, and past Landshark runners, who are now high school and collegiate athletes, to lead and coach our programs. We have over 100 schools participating throughout the Colorado Springs Area, Monument, Woodland Park, Castle Rock, Highlands Ranch and Parker.

Please note: Homeschool students are welcome to join any of our school programs.

Since 2000, the Landsharks Running Club has provided tens of thousands of children between the ages of 5-13, with experiences that benefit their physical and psycho-social health.

Financial Assistance is available, for those who qualify. More information is available on the Financial Assistance page of the website. The Financial Assistance Fund has provided the opportunity for over 2,000 athletes in need to participate in our programs.

The benefits of being a member of one of our clubs surpass the physical benefits and have been proven to teach children perseverance; goal-setting and other skills that help them succeed academically, socially, and as an athlete in numerous sports.

We are excited to invite you and help guide you through this exciting process.  Landsharks is here to make this a great experience.

Landsharks Spring Track Series

We offer a non-competitive youth program to introduce running to young athletes in a safe and fun environment.  The focus is on self improvement, being an encouraging teammate, and making new friends.

The Spring Track school program led by a Teacher and/or parent volunteers and is open to students in kindergarten through 6th grade.  The cost of the program is $68 per runner and a team shirt is required.  The team shirt ($16-Youth sizes/$18-Adult sizes) is the same for each season (Fall Cross Country and Spring Track) so you don't need  to purchase another shirt if it stills fits!

Practices are scheduled two times per week, before or after school for 45 to 60 minutes.  Practices consist of running games and track workouts with a strong focus on fun.  Runners train in ability groups with peers and move up to the next group based on improvements made during the program.

Meets are held at high school and middle school tracks and last approximately 90 minutes.  Each race night runners will run two races.

Race Night #1 - All runners will run the 50m dash, followed by their choice of a 400m or 800m race.
Race Night #2 - All runners will run the 100m dash, followed by their choice of a 400m or 800m race.
Race Night #3 - All runners will run the 200m dash, followed by their choice of a 400m or 1600m race.

At the races, runners receive a race tag with their number, ribbons and a series medal at the final race.  Race results are posted on our website within 24 hours of completion. Parents and high school athletes volunteer as race officials.

Event and practice liability insurance is provided by RRCA Club Membership.

The coaches are background checked, complete Sexual Abuse Training and have First Aid certification.

Elementary schools host the training programs. Homeschool students or runners whose school does not have a program may join any other participating school.  If you need help finding a school, please call the Central Office at (719) 623-5314.
